Media Village Completes 59 kW Solar Electric System
BURBANK, CA – Gangi Development, owner of Media Village, announced today it has completed a 59 KW solar electric system.

The renewable energy solution was completed by Green Power Systems and is designed to supply approximately 95,000 kilo watt hours per average year. Over the course of its lifetime the system will generate enough clean, renewable energy to offset over 1,900 vehicles. The rooftop system consists of 220 Canadian Solar Panels with a wattage of 235 watts each.
“GPS is proud to join Gangi in developing this project that will bring clean, fuel-free electricity to their operations,” said Anthony De Vito, president and chief executive officer of Green Power Systems. “Many people consider a solar project strictly an environmental decision however there are also critical business decisions involved. Solar replaces a volatile and rising energy cost with a fixed cost for the life of the system. The incentives available today make solar not only a smart environmental choice but a sound business decision.”
Things fell in line for Gangi this year when they were able to leverage a couple of key events to make the project a reality including a drop in the cost of solar components, increased tax rebates and improved capabilities by the utility companies to accommodate independent energy generators.

Baldwin Park School Officials Celebrate Solar Project Completion
BALDWIN PARK – School officials Thursday celebrated the completion of a solar energy project that will power the district’s headquarters. Phase One of this job-site has solar panels on the roof of the district’s headquarters and a carport that was constructed to hold the energy-gathering panels. The project at the district headquarters is the first phase in a $15 million project that will bring solar power to six elementary schools and Baldwin Park High School. The entire project of 9,000+ solar panels is slated for completion in September 2013, replacing 70 percent of the district’s electricity bill with the renewable energy.
The solar impacts will reduce the cost of electrical consumption by generating approximately 2.6 million kilo watt hours per average year, reduce CO2 annually by an estimated 3.7 million pounds, and result in a substantial annual savings. On hand for the unveiling were: Superintendent Mark Skvarna, Police Capt. Rudy Gatto, and Mayoer Manuel Lozano.
Superintendent Skvarna has noted that during the summer months, the district will sell enough energy back to Edison to power 600 homes. The multi-million dollar project was funded with a $25 million federal grant.
Baldwin Park School Police Capt. Rudy Gatto feels the new carports not only look nice, but the bright lights provide an added layer of security to the previously dimly lit lot. “The first time they turned it on, I drove around the corner and thought a space ship landed,” Gatto said. “It really helps from a security angle, because it used to be so dark.”
Mayor Manuel Lozano said, “The recent earthquake in Japan and fears of a nuclear meltdown at a power plant which lost its cooling capacity highlights the need for more solar power. “President Obama has committed to additional nuclear power plants and we must say, `No.’
The first phase of the Solar Energy project is completed at Baldwin Park Unified School District office in Baldwin Park on Thursday, March 17, 2011. The district office is the first of eight sites in the district to be completed and will generate approximately 3.246 kw/hr of electricity during the first year of operation. The district is looking to save an estimated $22.6 million in energy costs.

The Golden Triangle is Going Green
Green Power Systems announced today that they have supplied Vista Sorrento, LLC with a solar electric solution that converts their roof into a 146 kilowatt (kW) solar electric generating system. Vista Sorrento, LLC, features a family of public mutual funds with performance-based Sub-Adviser compensation, also commonly known as fulcrum fees. Allocation portfolios are available individually or as part of a turnkey asset management program.
The solar generating station is comprised of custom steel frame roof mounted structures that support a 635 Trina Solar 230 watt photovoltaic panels. These solar panels convert sunlight into clean energy. By transforming its existing roofing area into a solar generating station, Vista Sorrento, LLC has taken an active role in reducing the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that it will emit into the atmosphere by offsetting the electrical load of the hospital. The solar generating station has a peak rated output of about 215,005 kWh per year.
Vista Sorrento, LLC utilizes their existing roof to capture the region’s ample sunlight so that the same panels that capture the sun will also offer additional shading of the roof, further reducing electric costs to cool the building during the summer months, an added value feature in San Diego.

Green Power Systems announced today that they have supplied St. Mary Medical Center with a solar electric solution
… that converts a 104-vehicle parking lot into a 230-kilowatt (kW) solar electric generating system. St. Mary Medical Center, known for its health and wellness programs, initiated the project to focus on a new type of healing experience, one that benefits the environment and its employees.
The solar generating station is comprised of custom steel frame shade structures that support a canopy of 1,150 Kyocera KC 200GT photovoltaic panels. These solar panels convert sunlight into clean energy. By transforming its parking area into a solar generating station, St. Mary Medical Center has taken an active role in reducing the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that it will emit into the atmosphere by offsetting the electrical load of the hospital. The solar generating station has a peak rated output of about 333,400 kWh per year.
While most solar panels sit on a rooftop, St. Mary Medical Center utilizes a large open space on the property, its parking lot, to capture the region’s ample sunlight so that the same panels that capture the sun will also offer shaded parking, a valuable commodity in the High Desert that will make employees a bit more comfortable when they re-enter their vehicles after working a shift at the hospital.
The new parking shade structures, which comprise the community’s most visible solar power system, will administer a healing dose of environmental benefits to the planet in a way that promotes the hospital’s fiscal health, without any capital outlay.
The St. Mary Medical Center solar solution brought to the medical center a creative financing solution through Solar Power Partners. Solar Power Partners provided financing for the project at no cost to the hospital through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The hospital signed the PPA, a financing instrument that allows St. Mary Medical Center to host rather than own the solar power system. The facility agrees to purchase the power produced by the Solar Grove(TM) at roughly the same price at which it buys power from the local utility company during peak hours of the day when the sun is shining. Anthony De Vito, CEO of Green Power Systems, added, “St. Mary Medical Center was looking for a way to add shade structures for its employees, and the arrangement provided by the Power Purchase Agreement includes this as part of the solar power system, with no out of pocket costs.”
